Stuff
I'm a self professed "trash elf", and although I did not coin the descriptive phrase, (it came from a couple of fabulous reseller peeps at Scavenger Life, Ryanne & Jay) in the second half century of my life, I feel life I've finally found my home.
I'm not even sure when I began selling on Ebay, Etsy & Amazon in a serious light, as I think my first sale was somewhere in the mid 2000's. Even at that time, I sure wasn't searching the thrift stores/yard sales/auctions looking for items to resell for profit. I began by selling "stuff" I just wanted to get rid of, in my house.
Last summer we moved into a house after living in a "tiny home" (ours was of the mobile variety) for over 2 years, we moved all of the "stuff" from the storage unit we'd been renting, into the garage. Whew. There was a lot of "stuff"!
How to get rid of some of it without just giving it away (after all, we'd paid storage rental for over 2 years...gag, just do the math). Maybe recoup some of that spent cash...
Ebay.
I love Ebay as a buyer - people sell EVERYTHING on Ebay. It's like the worlds largest flea market inside of a Rodeo Drive Shopping Mall. Vintage clothing, Coach handbags, kitchen sink hardware, skis. Anything.
So I thought I'd give it a go.
And things sold ... so in my search for information about properly packing items for shipping, I found a plethora of peeps who sell "stuff"....for a living. Pay their bills, earn enough to take trips, cover their medical expenses.
So I went shopping.
Now, I've always been a thrift store shopper, buying gently used name brand clothing for personal use.
Then one day I found an expensive down jacket, too small for me, and at a crazy cheap price. I listed it, then sold it for over 10 times what I paid for it.
I was hooked.
Cha Ching!
